Originally created for Coco’s personal collection, Stairway to Pittsburgh became one of the most requested pieces in the lab. What started as a piece she made for herself is now available for others to enjoy as well.
Sometimes the subject isn't the staircase—it's the shadows.
I spent hours returning to this scene, waiting for the light to move into exactly the right position. What began as a simple fire escape became a study in geometry, contrast, and timing as the afternoon sun transformed steel and brick into a repeating pattern of lines and shadows.
The final piece was reimagined in monochrome, with carefully restored blues and warm rust tones highlighting the character of the building and the industrial spirit of Pittsburgh. The result sits somewhere between photography and graphic art—part cityscape, part shadow study.
